{"id":142285,"date":"2020-08-17T10:53:38","date_gmt":"2020-08-17T07:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/minister-ozersay-one-sided-approach-is-against-the-spirit-of-diplomacy\/"},"modified":"2020-08-17T10:53:38","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T07:53:38","slug":"minister-ozersay-one-sided-approach-is-against-the-spirit-of-diplomacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/minister-ozersay-one-sided-approach-is-against-the-spirit-of-diplomacy\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister \u00d6zersay \u2018One sided approach is against the spirit of diplomacy\u2019\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">TRNC Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kudret \u00d6zersay reacted to\u00a0US Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale\u2019s visit to South Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00d6zersay criticized Hale for not meeting or holding any contacts with TRNC officials during his visit to the island.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The TRNC Foreign Minister, in a written statement, stated that he had informed the US Ambassador to South Cyprus during a telephone conversation two days ago about the harm caused by such one-sided visits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI had conveyed to the ambassador how one-sided contacts contradicted the spirit of dialogue both in terms of the island\u2019s realities and diplomacy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00d6zersay said that he had conveyed the restrictions being imposed by the Greek Cypriot leadership at the crossing points and had asked the US Ambassador to take an initiative on the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe one-sided contacts held by the US Under Secretary for State not only contradicts the spirit of diplomacy but also does not help solve existing problems.
