According to a statement released by the TRNC Presidency, Lillie congratulated President Tatar for his election as the TRNC President.\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">President Tatar for his part expressed his vision that is based on sovereign equality and brought the issue of direct flights to the agenda. Tatar also emphasised the importance of the removal of the restrictions and isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The President said that he expects the UK to contribute to eliminating the discrimination that the international community has imposed against the Turkish Cypriot people so far.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">During the meeting, Tatar\u2019s meeting with Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Anastasiades was also discussed as well as Mara\u015f, hydrocarbons and other issues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Ersin Tatar received the British High Commissioner Stephen Lillie on Thursday (5 November 2020).
