{"id":142584,"date":"2021-03-10T13:47:44","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T10:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/tatar-turkeys-guarantee-and-turkish-armed-forces-are-sine-qua-non-in-cyprus\/"},"modified":"2021-03-10T13:47:44","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T10:47:44","slug":"tatar-turkeys-guarantee-and-turkish-armed-forces-are-sine-qua-non-in-cyprus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/tatar-turkeys-guarantee-and-turkish-armed-forces-are-sine-qua-non-in-cyprus\/","title":{"rendered":"Tatar: \u2018Turkey\u2019s guarantee and Turkish Armed Forces are sine qua non  in Cyprus\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar issued a message for the 57th anniversary of the Baf resistance and pointed out that Turkey\u2019s guarantee and Turkish Armed Forces are sine qua non in Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his message President Tatar stated that it is important to remember why the Greek Cypriots had unleashed a series of attacks on the Turkish quarter of Baf on 7<sup>th<\/sup>-9<sup>th<\/sup> March 1964 and expressed his gratitude to the Martyrs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Tatar added: \u2018The Greek Cypriot Administration encouraged by the UN Security Council (UNSC) political and unjust resolution dated 4<sup>th<\/sup> March 1964 which recognised them as the \u201conly legitimate government of Cyprus\u201d condensed their attacks against Turkish Cypriots. Their main target was to disable the resistance of the Turkish Cypriots and to take Turkish Cypriots under their control as their minority. However the Turkish Cypriots in Baf put forward a major resistance against the attacks of Greek Cypriots who were supported with the Greek Regiment which was using heavy artillery.
