{"id":142770,"date":"2021-08-16T09:53:33","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T06:53:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/taskent-martyrs-remembered\/"},"modified":"2021-08-16T09:53:33","modified_gmt":"2021-08-16T06:53:33","slug":"taskent-martyrs-remembered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/taskent-martyrs-remembered\/","title":{"rendered":"Ta\u015fkent Martyrs remembered"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Turkish Cypriots who became martyrs while defending their towns and villages were remembered during the ceremony held at Ta\u015fkent Martyrdom on 14th August.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of the Assembly \u00d6nder Sennaro\u011flu, Prime Minister Ersan Saner, Turkish Ambassador to Lefko\u015fa Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri, Main Opposition party CTP Leader Tufan Erh\u00fcrman, ministers, soldiers and other authorities attended the ceremony. The ceremony started with the laying of wreaths, a minute\u2019s silence was observed, shots were fired and then flags were raised to the national anthem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking during the ceremony the head of the Martyrs\u2019 Families Committee Erdin\u00e7 Erda\u011fl\u0131 said that the events that took place in Ta\u015fkent were bitter proof of the Greek Cypriot\u2019s plans for Turkish Cypriots. \u201cOur villages were raided one by one and our villagers were taken prisoners. It is not possible to forget this or allow this to be forgotten\u201d said Erda\u011fl\u0131.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">President Ersin Tatar drew attention to what had been experienced during those years and said that it is necessary to know the past and to pass it on properly to the future generation. Tatar also added that with the Turkish Peace operation, peace and freedom had been brought to Cyprus.
