{"id":142845,"date":"2021-10-08T11:05:13","date_gmt":"2021-10-08T08:05:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/ertugruloglu-as-long-as-the-greek-cypriots-are-treated-as-state-and-we-are-treated-as-society-official-negotiations-will-not-be-implemented\/"},"modified":"2021-10-08T11:05:13","modified_gmt":"2021-10-08T08:05:13","slug":"ertugruloglu-as-long-as-the-greek-cypriots-are-treated-as-state-and-we-are-treated-as-society-official-negotiations-will-not-be-implemented","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/ertugruloglu-as-long-as-the-greek-cypriots-are-treated-as-state-and-we-are-treated-as-society-official-negotiations-will-not-be-implemented\/","title":{"rendered":"Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu: &#8220;As long as the Greek Cypriots are treated as &#8216;state&#8217; and we are treated as &#8216;society&#8217;, official negotiations will not be implemented&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking at the General Assembly meeting of the TRNC Assembly yesterday 7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0October, TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu stated that creating unrealistic pictures does not serve the Turkish Cypriot people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pointing out that the conditions have changed and it would be got nowhere with conventional approaches, arguments, parameters, and negotiations, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu said, &#8220;The reason for this failure is that the Greek Cypriot side is treated as a &#8216;state&#8217; and we are treated as a &#8216;society&#8217; in the international community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reiterating that the reason for the failure of the negotiations is the status issue, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu emphasized that the policy put forward is a move aimed at eliminating the reason for the failure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu said, \u201cWe welcome for the negotiations of the two states. You cannot have a state in the federation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Expressing that no deficiencies or mistakes can be a reason for denying the state, Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu noted that the mistakes and deficiencies should be identified and corrected, and the state should be strengthened.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stating that the people took other paths because they were not happy with the performance of the governments and that&#8217;s why they said &#8220;yes&#8221; to the Annan Plan, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu emphasized that there are two states on the island and that the future should be shaped as two states.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu noted that as long as the Greek Cypriot side is recognized in the world, it will not share anything with the Turkish Cypriot side.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reiterating that the federation would not realize, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu said \u201cPolitical equality also existed in the 1960 Republic, however it was disappeared. If there will be a partnership, it must be on solid ground.
