Stating that the TRNC gained status in many international organizations as a result of the efforts made to increase the visibility and recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the international arena, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu noted that TRNC Representative Offices were opened\u00a0in many countries.<\/p>\n
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu evaluated Turkey\u2019s 2021 foreign policy by drawing attention to the tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean that were caused by Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration.<\/p>\n
Emphasizing that the Cyprus problem should be solved completely, \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu said, “We negotiated for the federation for 53 years, and lastly we said in Crans Montana that we would not negotiate for a federation again\u201d.<\/p>\n
Noting that the Greek Cypriot side has not desired a solution for the past 53 years, \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu said that the reason the Greek Cypriot side does not desire a solution is because it does not want to share anything with the Turkish Cypriot side.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they wanted a solution they would not have destroyed the 1960 partnership. They see the Turkish Cypriot people as a minority. That\u2019s why we are saying a solution based on sovereign equality must be sought\u201d said \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu.<\/p>\n
Explaining that another 53 years will not be wasted with talks on a federation, \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu stated that other countries also supported the idea of \u200b\u200ba two-state solution on the basis of sovereign equality in Cyprus.<\/p>\n
