Turkish Foreign Minister\u00a0Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu\u00a0stated that from now on, there is sovereign equality, not political equality, so the two-state solution.<\/p>\n
Minister \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu added that the two states, which will live side by side can cooperate with each other in any way.<\/p>\n
Minister \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu, who arrived in the TRNC to make some official contacts, met with citizens in Lapta yesterday as part of his visit.<\/p>\n
Turkish Ambassador to Lefko\u015fa Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri, Minister of Interior Ziya \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler, District Governor of Girne Sinan G\u00fcne\u015f, Lapta Mayor Mustafa Aktu\u011f and UBP Deputy Ali\u015fan \u015ean as well as a large number of citizens attended the meeting, which took place in the courtyard of Ba\u015fp\u0131nar Yeni Mosque.<\/p>\n
Expressing that he will meet with President Ersin Tatar and Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu, \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu noted that they will evaluate the latest developments with the negotiation committee.<\/p>\n
In his speech at the event, \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu said:\u00a0\u201cThe Greek Cypriot side is trying to repackage and sell the issues that they tried to dilute the negotiations which they brought to the agenda as confidence-building steps or measures.\u00a0\u201cOur stance is clear, but we always discuss, consult and decide together\u201d<\/p>\n
“Ahead of Crans Montana, we said ‘we are negotiating for the federation for the last time. After that, there is sovereign equality, not political equality. So the two-state solution” \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu underlined.<\/p>\n
Noting that T\u00fcrkiye proposed the 5+1 Cyprus talks held in Geneva last year, Cavusoglu said they also clearly expressed their stance of a two-state solution in these talks.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf the Greek Cypriot side is sincere and wants to see the Turkish Cypriots as equal, they should recognize its political sovereignty so we can cooperate.\u201d\u00a0\u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu stressed.<\/p>\n
Adding that the Greek Cypriot side does not want to share hydrocarbons fairly with the Turkish Cypriots, \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu said\u00a0that they are taking the necessary steps on the issue and show both to Europe and to the whole world that they support fair share of hydrocarbons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
