{"id":143292,"date":"2023-03-24T10:27:29","date_gmt":"2023-03-24T07:27:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/ertugruloglu-responds-to-greek-cypriot-foreign-minister-an-unfortunate-statement\/"},"modified":"2023-03-24T10:27:29","modified_gmt":"2023-03-24T07:27:29","slug":"ertugruloglu-responds-to-greek-cypriot-foreign-minister-an-unfortunate-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/ertugruloglu-responds-to-greek-cypriot-foreign-minister-an-unfortunate-statement\/","title":{"rendered":"Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu responds to Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister: \u201cAn unfortunate statement\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TRNC Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu described the statement of the new Foreign Minister of the Greek Cypriot Administration Constantinos Kombos, regarding the \u201cactive involvement\u201d of the European Union (EU) in the settlement process of the Cyprus issue as unfortunate.<\/p>\n<p>In his statement, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu said \u201cI would like to remind my New Greek Cypriot counterpart that there is currently no settlement process in Cyprus and that any new negotiation process between the two States can only start after the TRNC\u2019s realistic vision on Cyprus is recognized.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the EU, which has not fulfilled any of its promises to the Turkish Cypriots and unconditionally supports the Greek Cypriot side, cannot be expected to participate in a possible negotiation process. Due to the nature of negotiation, the consent of the parties is of vital importance in the decision-making process.
