{"id":143544,"date":"2023-12-28T09:40:23","date_gmt":"2023-12-28T06:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/missing-bus-monument\/"},"modified":"2023-12-28T09:40:23","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T06:40:23","slug":"missing-bus-monument","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/missing-bus-monument\/","title":{"rendered":"Missing Bus Monument"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The foundation of the Missing Bus Monument, intended to be built in memory of the 11 martyrs, known as the \u201cMissing Bus\u201d martyrs, was laid with a ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>State, government and local officials attended the event.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_-6191309740422242771ydp13d72d8fyiv9401306664x_m_519819240273895421geom_inter_1703756038992_63_4\">11 Turkish Cypriots, who\u00a0left their homes from Larnaca by bus to work\u00a0at\u00a0the British Bases in\u00a0Dhekelia on May 13, 1964, were forcibly removed from the bus by\u00a0a group of armed\u00a0Greek Cypriots, taken to an unknown place and killed.\u00a0\u00a0After 43 years, in 2007, as a result of the work of the Committee on Missing Persons, their remains were found\u00a0massed\u00a0in a well, identified\u00a0and buried.
