Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu has come together with members of the press in Ankara, and made statements regarding his visit and answered questions on the agenda.<\/p>\n
Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu said: \u201cWe do not have any expectations from the UN Secretary-General\u2019s Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar\u2026\u00a0She does not know the Cyprus problem anyway, but hopefully she will be able to determine exactly what the problem is from the contacts she will make within these six months.\u201d<\/p>\n
During his visits to T\u00fcrkiye, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu had talks with the Vice President of Republic of T\u00fcrkiye Cevdet Y\u0131lmaz, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defence Ya\u015far G\u00fcler.<\/p>\n
Expressing that there is a search to explore whether or not common ground exists between the two sides for the commencement of formal negotiations, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu said, “The reason for this search is to wear down the stance of the Turkish Cypriot side and to shake our confidence.”<\/p>\n
Expressing that Cuellar and the UN Security Council members demanded such a mission in order to achieve the success of their own policies, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu stressed that as long as the Greek Cypriot side is treated as a \u201cState\u201d by the UN, there can be no “common ground” and no positive results can be obtained from the negotiation process.<\/p>\n
