{"id":143681,"date":"2024-06-27T08:18:42","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T05:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/martyr-esref-salih-laid-to-rest-60-years-later\/"},"modified":"2024-06-27T08:18:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T05:18:42","slug":"martyr-esref-salih-laid-to-rest-60-years-later","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/martyr-esref-salih-laid-to-rest-60-years-later\/","title":{"rendered":"Martyr E\u015fref Salih laid to rest 60 years later"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Martyr E\u015fref Salih, who\u00a0was killed\u00a0in May 1964, was laid to rest in a military ceremony in the village of Tuzla on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>His remains\u00a0were identified\u00a0after excavations conducted by the Committee of Missing Persons (CMP) in Trulli, Larnaca.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of Parliament Zorlu T\u00f6re, and some military and civilian officials.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech at the ceremony, President Tatar said \u201c60 years have passed, he is still in our hearts. He was martyred for sake of this territory. He is an innocent person who was martyred during the brutal attacks of the Greek Cypriot -Greek atrocities on the Turkish Cypriot people to annex Cyprus to Greece.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>President Tatar said, \u201cThe state has fulfilled its responsibility. Although, the process took 60 years, the missing person has been found\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The President said, \u201cToday, we owe the TRNC, the independent Turkish state, our freedom, our peace here to the martyrs.
