{"id":143700,"date":"2024-07-15T10:57:35","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T07:57:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/tore-issues-a-message-on-the-15-july-greek-backed-coup-detat\/"},"modified":"2024-07-15T10:57:35","modified_gmt":"2024-07-15T07:57:35","slug":"tore-issues-a-message-on-the-15-july-greek-backed-coup-detat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/tore-issues-a-message-on-the-15-july-greek-backed-coup-detat\/","title":{"rendered":"T\u00f6re issues a message on the 15 July Greek-backed coup d&#8217;\u00e9tat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Speaker of the TRNC Assembly Zorlu T\u00f6re issued a message on the 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the coup d&#8217;\u00e9tat carried out on 15 July 1974 by Greek nationalists with the understanding of Enosis, backed by the junta administration in Greece.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00f6re stated that with the Bloody Christmas attacks that began in 1963, the Turkish Cypriot people were excluded from the Republic of Cyprus, of which they were equal founding partners, the Republic of Cyprus was transformed into a Greek state and a major step was taken towards the annexation of Cyprus to Greece.<\/p>\n<p>In his message, T\u00f6re said: &#8220;In this bloody fascist coup, hundreds of Greeks were killed and attacks and massacres were committed against the Turkish Cypriot people.
