President Ersin Tatar\u00a0attended\u00a0the \u201cAmerican Turkish Business World Gathering\u201d hosted by Anatolian Businessman Association USA (ASKON) at Chart House\u00a0in\u00a0New York.<\/p>\n
The event, which brought together hundreds of American and Turkish business leaders, was also attended by the Minister of Trade \u00d6mer Bolat,\u00a0the\u00a0Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kac\u0131r and\u00a0the\u00a0Minister of Finance Mehmet \u015eim\u015fek, of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n
Addressing the business gathering, President Tatar said that he\u00a0was\u00a0\u201cvery happy to be with you today\u201d, adding that “having listened to the ministers who spoke before me, I see with great pride that T\u00fcrkiye is in safe hands and will continue economic growth, following the negative effects of the pandemic, the devastating earthquakes and the conflicts in other countries that caused issues in the food chain\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an economist, I can say,\u00a0that it is indeed important to be able to predict\u00a0the direction of the economy through statistical data, to attract investment and business, and to increase productivity and promote healthy competition,\u201d\u00a0President Tatar.<\/p>\n
Noting the importance in competing\u00a0business and trade with other countries of the world, President Tatar stated that T\u00fcrkiye is a \u201cregional power\u201d that had spearheaded international efforts in tackling the food crisis that ensued following the start of the Ukraine-Russia war.<\/p>\n
President Tatar added that, during the address of President Erdo\u011fan, he had emphasised that federal-based negotiations have “completely lost its validity”.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs you will recall, federal-based negotiations have been held in Cyprus for more than half-a-century,\u201d President Tatar said. \u201cDespite the arduous efforts of the Turkish Cypriot Side, and their support for a UN settlement plan in the separately held simultaneous referenda in April 2004,\u00a0it was the Greek Cypriot People who rejected the federal solution.\u00a0\u00a0Last and final negotiations on the exhausted basis again ended with failure in Crans-Montana in July 2017.\u00a0 All of these have shown that it is the Greek Cypriot Side that refuses to share power and prosperity with the Turkish Cypriot People on the basis of equality,\u201d President Tatar said.<\/p>\n
Negotiations on the federal basis have failed to produce a settlement. This is why we say that it is necessary to think outside the federal box and\u00a0to look\u00a0towards a realistic and sustainable settlement that is based on good neighbourly relations and a cooperative relationship of the two States in Cyprus, and to look ahead to a sustainable future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
