TRNC President Ersin Tatar emphasised the importance of the new national policy based on the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people and stated that sovereignty is an acquired, inherent right and that it is not subject to negotiation.<\/p>\n

President Tatar addressed the official parade held at Dr. Faz\u0131l K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck Boulevard to celebrate the 41st anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.<\/p>\n
President Tatar stressed \u201cAs the Turkish Cypriot people, our only wish in these lands are to be able to walk towards the future with hope and to continue our lives in peace, tranquillity and security in the eastern Mediterranean, in this important and critical region. We have no interest in anybody else\u2019s rights. All we wish is to protect our own legitimate rights and interests\u201d.<\/p>\n

The President stated that although the Turkish Cypriot people suffered and experienced acts of genocide carried out against them as part of the aspiration by the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo to unite Cyprus with Greece, Turkish Cypriots, never gave up and acted with great determination and resilience, as the children of Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atat\u00fcrk.”<\/p>\n

Stating that \u201cnew and formal negotiations can be started following the reaffirmation of our sovereign equality and equal international status,\u201d President Tatar said \u201cThis new vision and position is fully supported by the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye. Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan, President of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye, has supported this new position in his addresses at the 77th, 78th and 79th sessions of the UN General Assembly. He has called upon world nations to formally recognise the TRNC, to end the inhumane isolation on us, and to establish economic, political and diplomatic relations with us.\u201d<\/p>\n
