{"id":146001,"date":"2025-05-08T15:51:47","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T12:51:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/?p=146001"},"modified":"2025-05-08T15:51:47","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T12:51:47","slug":"minister-ertugruloglu-speaks-at-28th-eurasian-economic-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/minister-ertugruloglu-speaks-at-28th-eurasian-economic-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu speaks at 28th Eurasian Economic Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu, delivered a speech at the \u201cEcology, Economy, Energy, Artificial Intelligence and Health\u201d session of the 28<sup>th<\/sup> Eurasian Economic Summit held this year in \u0130stanbul, yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>In his address, Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu stated, \u201cThe Cyprus issue is the recognition of the Greek Cypriot Administration as the Republic of Cyprus.\u201d Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu emphasized that the &#8220;Republic of Cyprus,&#8221; established in 1960, ended in 1963 when the Greek Cypriots removed the Turkish Cypriots from government institutions by force of arms and afterwards two states have existed on the island.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister criticized the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for ignoring the reality of Cyprus since 1964, noting that the Council has allowed the Greek Cypriots to act as if they are sole owner of the Republic of Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu underlined that throughout this process, the permanent member states of the UNSC \u201chave disregarded the status and sovereignty\u201d of the Turkish Cypriot people and added that the \u201cCyprus problem was misdiagnosed and this mistake continues today.<\/p>\n<p>Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu also pointed out that it is easy to say that the Cyprus problem needs to be solved and that it should first to be decided what is meant by this problem. \u201cThe Cyprus problem is the recognition of the Greek Cypriot state as the Republic of Cyprus\u201d, he explained. As long as this mistake continues and the existence of the Turkish Cypriot state on the island is denied, it will not be possible to solve the Cyprus problem in any meaningful way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu concluded by stating that Turkish Cypriots could not find an international platform to express themselves, said \u201cThe only reason I have this opportunity to speak to you on this platform today is because this event is being held in T\u00fcrkiye.
