The \u201c19 May Commemoration of Atat\u00fcrk, Youth and Sports Day\u201d was celebrated with ceremonies and events in the TRNC yesterday.<\/p>\n
President Ersin Tatar, in his address, emphasized that the 106th anniversary of the historic day when the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atat\u00fcrk and his 16 comrades arrived in Samsun aboard the Band\u0131rma Ferry to initiate the Turkish War of Independence is being commemorated in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with unity and pride, on the occasion of the 19 May Commemoration of Atat\u00fcrk, Youth and Sports Day.<\/p>\n
Tatar further underlined the significance of the progress made by the Turkish Cypriot people in their struggle for independence and freedom, following in the footsteps of Mustafa Kemal Atat\u00fcrk.<\/p>\n
He also noted that there is a sense of pride in maintaining the existence of the TRNC in the Blue Homeland and the Eastern Mediterranean through cooperation with the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n
