Prime Minister \u00dcnal \u00dcstel has sternly criticized the final remarks made by Colin Stewart, the United Nations (UN) Secretary General\u2019s Special Representative for Cyprus, as \u2018a biased farewell message that is far from reality.\u2019<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister \u00dcstel stated that during Colin Stewart’s term of office, neither serious steps were taken to build trust between the parties, nor were any concrete efforts made to lift the isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people. \u2018Stewart’s four-year term of office has gone down in history as a fruitless and insensitive period for the Turkish Cypriot people.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Prime Minister \u00dcstel expressed his regret over Mr. Stewart\u2019s recent statements, noting that the remarks made at the end of his mandate not only caused disappointment among the Turkish Cypriot people, but also reflected a stance incompatible with the principles of neutrality and diplomatic courtesy.<\/p>\n
