{"id":150156,"date":"2025-12-23T15:28:56","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T12:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/?p=150156"},"modified":"2025-12-23T15:28:56","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T12:28:56","slug":"ustel-massacres-cannot-be-considered-an-act-of-heroism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/ustel-massacres-cannot-be-considered-an-act-of-heroism\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00dcstel: \u201cMassacres cannot be considered an act of heroism\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister \u00dcnal \u00dcstel emphasised that the Turkish Cypriot people had written their history through resistance, honour and determination to establish a state, stating, \u2018Massacres are not heroism.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister \u00dcstel criticized recent remarks by Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, stating that describing the \u2018Bloody Christmas\u2019, a symbol of systematic massacres against the Turkish Cypriot people, as \u2018heroism\u2019 is not only a historical distortion but also a clear glorification of violence against civilians.<\/p>\n<p>\u00dcstel underlined that presenting past atrocities as heroic actions undermines trust and makes genuine dialogue, reconciliation, and a shared future on the island impossible.
