{"id":150252,"date":"2025-12-26T11:14:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T08:14:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/?p=150252"},"modified":"2025-12-26T11:14:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T08:14:31","slug":"prime-minister-ustel-criticises-statements-of-archbishop-yeorgios","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/prime-minister-ustel-criticises-statements-of-archbishop-yeorgios\/","title":{"rendered":"Prime Minister \u00dcstel criticises statements of Archbishop Yeorgios"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister \u00dcnal \u00dcstel stated that the remarks made by the Greek Orthodox Church\u2019s Archbishop Yeorgios were incompatible with the historical realities on the island.<\/p>\n<p>According to a written statement from the Prime Minister&#8217;s Office, \u00dcstel commented on the political statement issued by Greek Orthodox Archbishop Yeorgios on the Cyprus issue on the occasion of Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Stressing that the political statements issued by Archbishop Yeorgios on the Cyprus issue neither aligned with the historical realities of the island nor with the will for a settlement, Prime Minister \u00dcstel said that what is expected from a religious authority is a call for peace, tolerance, and reconciliation.
