A commemorative ceremony was held yesterday at the K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck Kaymakl\u0131 Martyrs\u2019 Monument in memory of the K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck Kaymakl\u0131 martyrs.<\/p>\n
In his address, the Speaker of the Assembly Ziya \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler stressed the importance of understanding the suffering, heroism, and the honourable struggle of the ancestors of the Turkish Cypriot people from past to present.<\/p>\n
Addressing the youth in particular, \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler said, \u201cWe must know the past very well so that we can move forward into the future with confident steps. We need to know 1571, 1878, 1958, 1960, 1963, 1974, and 1983 very well.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00d6zt\u00fcrkler noted that the Greek Cypriot leader’s statements made no mention of T\u00fcrkiye’s guarantor status or the presence of Turkish troops, adding that they had witnessed the joint agreements between Greece, South Cyprus, and Israel.<\/p>\n
He stated that the agreements made by the Greek Cypriot administration under the guise of armament with the United States, Israel, and France had turned the island into a powder keg.<\/p>\n
Stating that \u2018Our sovereign equality in the TRNC, our security, T\u00fcrkiye’s guarantor status, and the presence of Turkish troops on the island are not matters of debate for us,\u2019 \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler said they would not fall for such schemes again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
