Osman \u00d6rek, former Prime Minister of the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus and one of the three Turkish Cypriot ministers in the Cabinet of the 1960 Republic of Cyprus, was commemorated at his graveside on the 27th anniversary of his passing at the Lefko\u015fa Cemetery.<\/p>\n
The ceremony paid tribute to his distinguished contributions, including his role as head of the Turkish Cypriot delegation to the London Committee during the drafting of the Constitution of the 1960 Partnership Republic of Cyprus and the founding agreements.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was attended by President Tufan Erh\u00fcrman, Prime Minister \u00dcnal \u00dcstel, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Ambassador to Lefko\u015fa Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri, Republic\u2019s Assembly Speaker Ziya \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu, main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader S\u0131la Usar \u0130ncirli, Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Commander Lieutenant General Sebahattin K\u0131l\u0131n\u00e7, Security Forces Commander Major General \u0130lker G\u00f6rg\u00fcl\u00fc, Lefko\u015fa Turkish Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmanc\u0131, as well as military officials.<\/p>\n
Following the laying of wreaths in protocol order, the first address was delivered by \u00d6rek\u2019s daughter, Ye\u015fim \u00d6rek G\u00fcm\u00fc\u015fda\u011f. She expressed her wish that her father were still alive to share his insights, particularly in light of the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
