{"id":151737,"date":"2026-04-10T14:05:45","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/?p=151737"},"modified":"2026-04-10T14:09:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T11:09:28","slug":"martyr-resat-ahmet-laid-to-rest-after-62-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/martyr-resat-ahmet-laid-to-rest-after-62-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Martyr Re\u015fat Ahmet laid to rest after 62 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Turkish Cypriot martyr Re\u015fat Ahmet, who went missing in 1964 and was later identified through excavations carried out by the Missing Persons Committee in Trulli (Larnaca), was laid to rest with a military funeral at the Ortak\u00f6y Martyrs\u2019 Cemetery in Lefko\u015fa.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was attended by President Tufan Erh\u00fcrman, Security Forces Commander Major General \u0130lker G\u00f6rg\u00fcl\u00fc, senior military officials, Police Chief Ali Adal\u0131er, Turkish Cypriot member of the Missing Persons Committee Hakk\u0131 M\u00fcft\u00fczade, and Ahmet\u2019s family<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the family, \u00dcnsal \u00d6zbilenler said that the 62-year wait had been very difficult, but described the occasion as both meaningful and emotional.
