Speaker of the Assembly of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ziya \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler, attended the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and delivered a speech on behalf of the TRNC.<\/p>\n
In his address, \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler stated that the hospitality extended during the 3rd Azerbaijan-T\u00fcrkiye-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups Meeting, held in Baku last April, had made a significant contribution to further strengthening the ties of brotherhood among the parliaments.<\/p>\n
Emphasizing that the Turkish Cypriot people have been subjected to unjust isolation in the political, economic, sports, cultural and social arenas for nearly 70 years, \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler underscored the significance of the resolutions previously adopted by OIC member states aimed at addressinging these injustices. He noted that the Turkish Cypriot side expects brotherly nations to take strong and more concrete steps towards further developing these relations with the TRNC.<\/p>\n
Concluding his remarks, \u00d6zt\u00fcrkler stated that strengthening the status of the TRNC which has maintained relations with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at various levels since 1975 and elevating it to advanced levels, is a natural consequence of the historical process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
