Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu stated that negotiations on the Cyprus issue would not produce any meaningful outcome, adding: \u201cThe Cyprus issue has been resolved. The current situation is a \u2018de facto\u2019 solution. As long as the Greek Cypriot side continues to be recognized as the so-called \u201cRepublic of Cyprus\u201d, no solution other than the current status quo is possible.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu received a delegation participating in the \u2018Mediterranean Peace and Diplomacy Forum\u2019 hosted by Bah\u00e7e\u015fehir Cyprus University under the theme \u2018Same Roots, Toward a Common Future\u2019.<\/p>\n
The delegation, headed by Bah\u00e7e\u015fehir Cyprus University Rector Mehmet Toycan, included politicians, parliamentarians, academics, and opinion leaders from Iraq, Azerbaijan, Syria, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Western Thrace, Gagauzia, Bulgaria, and Southern Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Briefing the delegation on the Cyprus issue, Minister Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu stated: \u201cCyprus is the cause of the Turkish nation. We have a Motherland to which we owe our deepest gratitude. Our strength is equal to the strength of our Motherland.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reaffirming the Turkish Cypriot side\u2019s determination to safeguard the state, Ertu\u011frulo\u011flu stated: \u201cWe will protect our state, we will move forward together with our motherland T\u00fcrkiye\u201d. He stressed that there would be no retreat from the two-state solution policy based on sovereign equality.<\/p>\n
