{"id":153694,"date":"2026-08-27T13:55:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T10:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/?p=153694"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:55:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T10:55:12","slug":"erhurman-we-will-continue-working-in-good-faith-for-a-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr\/en\/erhurman-we-will-continue-working-in-good-faith-for-a-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"Erh\u00fcrman: \u201cWe will continue working in good faith for a settlement\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Tufan Erh\u00fcrman said that United Nations Secretary-General\u2019s Personal Representative Maria Angela Holgu\u00edn is expected to visit the island towards the end of the first week of September, adding that he and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides had agreed to meet once a week, in line with his earlier proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Following the leaders\u2019 meeting, Erh\u00fcrman issued a written statement noting that the meeting had taken place against the backdrop of negative developments in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that these developments had eroded confidence and were contrary to the spirit of confidence-building measures.<\/p>\n<p>The President stressed that the Turkish Cypriot side was ready to make progress on issues including mine clearance, the opening of new crossing points, and citizenship rights for children of mixed marriages, sports, combating irregular migration, and cooperation in disaster management.<\/p>\n<p>Erh\u00fcrman reaffirmed that they would continue to work in good faith, in line with the Turkish Cypriot people\u2019s will for a settlement.
