14 June, 2016Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün stated that their aim is to distribute the water transferred from Turkey to all municipalities on August 1.
In his speech during one of his receptions, Prime Minister stated that since they have taken over the government, serious work has commenced regarding economic and financial issues, problems of the private sectors as well as the Cyprus issue. Özgürgün said that water issue is a very serious issue and the work has reached the final stage.
Özgürgün said: “I hope the water will be distributed to 28 municipalities on August 1. The Economic Protocol which was signed with Turkey will allow us to start and carry out new projects. It is very important for developing economic prosperity”.
Indicating that the Cyprus issue has an important place in the government agenda, and that the government supports the current negotiations process, headed by President Mustafa Akıncı together with Turkey, Özgürgün said that the known attitude of the Greek Cypriot side has not changed.
Adding that they always support a solution on the basis of bi-zonality, bi-communality and political equality of the two people on the island, Özgürgün said that the attitude of the Greek Cypriot side is to the contrary. Özgürgün expressed “If a solution is desired, political equality of the two peoples on the island as well as Turkey’s full and effective guarantee is our sine qua non.”
