23 January, 2017The TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu has stated that all parties should find a way to conclude the ongoing negotiations in Cyprus and that open-ended negotiations should be stopped.
“The negotiations in Geneva should be concluded. Either an agreement will be reached or we can be certain that an agreement will never be reached.”
The Foreign Minister made the comments in a reception of the Adana Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD).
Ertuğruloğlu also stated that while the negotiations continue the Turkish Cypriot people do not believe that they do not have any choice other than going into a partnership with their Greek Cypriot partners. Ertuğruloğlu highlighted that this is not the “only option”.
Ertuğruloğlu said that unless the TRNC and Turkish Cypriot people are recognized, like the Greek Cypriot side is recognized as “Republic of Cyprus Government”, it will not be possible to reach an agreement that will satisfy the Turkish Cypriot people in terms of equality and securing their future with the guarantee of Motherland Turkey.
