President Mustafa Akıncı sent a letter to Antonio Tajani last Friday and congratulated him for being elected as the President of the European Parliament and wished him success in his new role.
In his letter, President Akıncı expressed that he has “no doubt” that Tajani will contribute to the development of the European Union. Akıncı also mentioned the Cyprus question in his letter.
Akıncı emphasised that efforts have been continuing on the island to reach an agreement based on bi-zonality, bi-communality and political equality. President Akıncı stated that in order to make any agreement that is reached viable, the parameters for a solution should become a part of European Union law.
