21 November, 2018Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman stated on the Cyprus issue that regarding the decades-long negotiations Mr. Anastasiades has not yet been able to accept that political equality means sharing authority and responsibilities and managing together.
Speaking at an event he attended, Prime Minister, CTP Leader, Tufan Erhürman also touched upon the recent developments in the Cyprus problem and said:
“Developments are clearly showing us something. Mr. Anastasiades is confused about the political equality of the Turkish Cypriots. His recent statements show that Anastasiades has not yet been able to accept that political equality means sharing authority and responsibilities and managing together.
He tries to pass the powers to the constituent states and get rid of the headache. There cannot be a form of government in which the will of Turkish Cypriots will not be reflected in the decisions. Such a form of government cannot provide the functional state structure that he says he wants. The two equal communities will establish and manage the federation together. These two communities will share all powers and responsibilities. The state is sustainable and functional as long as it reflects the will of the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots. A model that excludes the will of any community cannot be sustainable and functional”.
