22 November, 2018The Speaker of the TRNC Assembly Teberrüken Uluçay gave a speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TÜRKPA) in İzmir. Uluçay attended the meeting as a guest of the President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Binali Yıldırım.
In his speech, stressing that the Greek Cypriot Administration does not exhibit a serious attitude to end the negotiations which have been continuing for 50 years and to reach peace in Cyprus, Uluçay said that the Greek Cypriot side lacks the political will which is needed for a solution in Cyprus.
Pointing out that it is also a regional necessity to call on the Greek Cypriot side to have common sense, Uluçay said that the status quo in the Greek Cypriot side is not sustainable and the uncompromising policy of the Greek Cypriot side has some risks not only for the island but also for the region. Uluçay also underlined that it is the responsibility of the whole international community to convey this reality to the Greek Cypriot side.
