Taşpınar Martyrs remembered

A commemoration ceremony was held in Taşpınar on 25 July Friday to honor those martyred during the years of the national struggle.

President Ersin Tatar also attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

In his address, President Ersin Tatar emphasized that the gathering was to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives so the Turkish Cypriot people could live independently.

He described the ceremony as both an expression of respect for the past and a reaffirmation of the community’s values, reiterating, “We will neither forget our martyrs nor allow them to be forgotten.”

Referring to the ongoing events in the Gaza, Tatar remarked that the Turkish Cypriot people endured similar attrocities 60 years ago. He stressed that they resisted with determination and thanks to the strong support of the Republic of Türkiye, never yielded to the attacks.

Tatar concluded by paying his respects to the martyrs and offering his condolences to the families.
