Martyrs remembered in Lefkoşa

The first martyrs of the Turkish Cypriot national struggle for existence — the heroes of the 9 September Front, Ulus Ülfet, İsmail Beyoğlu, Mustafa Ertan, and Kubilay Altaylı were commemorated at a ceremony held in Lefkoşa.

In his address at the ceremony, President Ersin Tatar said: “There are two separate peoples, two separate States, and two separate democracies in Cyprus. The guarantorship of motherland Türkiye and the presence of Turkish soldiers on the island are the red line of our peace, tranquility, and security.”

Recalling that Ulus Ülfet, İsmail Beyoğlu, Mustafa Ertan, and Kubilay Altaylı sacrificed their lives 68 years ago while still very young, President Tatar said their struggle illuminated the path of the Turkish Cypriot people.
