25 September, 2025President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, addressed participants at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In his remarks, President Erdoğan touched upon the Cyprus issue, underlining that there are two separate states and two peoples on the island, and stressing that the Turkish Cypriots are equal co-owners of the island and will not accept being a minority.
President Erdoğan stated: “The international community must put an end to the unjust isolation that the Turkish Cypriots have been subjected to for more than half a century. As I reiterated in the past three sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, I once again call on the international community to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and to establish diplomatic, political, and economic relations with it.”
