Tatar meets Türkiye, Azerbaijan and TRNC parliamentary friendship groups

President Ersin Tatar received delegations from the Parliamentary Friendship Groups of Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The visiting delegation included Şamil Ayrım Türkiye–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Chair, Ehliman Emiraslanov, Azerbaijan–Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group Chair, Cavanşir Feyziyev, Azerbaijan–TRNC Parliamentary Friendship Group Chair, Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay TRNC–Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group Chair, and Orhan Erdem, Türkiye–TRNC Parliamentary Friendship Group Chair.

In his speech, President Ersin Tatar highlighted the concerted efforts to strengthen and promote the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), underlining the crucial support provided by the Republic of Türkiye and Azerbaijan in this endeavor.

He stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people must exercise their right to determine their own future, reiterating that the Republic of Türkiye and President Tayyip Erdoğan have always stood by their side in this struggle.

Recalling the TRNC’s observer status at the Organisation of Turkic States, Tatar noted that full membership would be the next step.

Speaking during the visit, Ehliman Emiraslanov announced that the next meeting of the friendship groups would be held in Azerbaijan and affirmed their commitment to further strengthing the TRNC’s position within the Turkic world, enhancing inter-parliamentary relations, and reinforcing solidarity among Turkic states.
