TCG Işın begins search operations

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that, following the maritime disaster off the coast of Girne, they had been working day and night to locate the missing persons and that the search operations were continuing uninterrupted with the strong support of the Republic of Türkiye.
In a written statement, Üstel noted that, as a result of the ongoing operations, the location of an object at a depth of approximately 550 metres had been identified, adding that efforts to determine whether the object was a shipwreck would continue.
Expressing that operations would be further strengthened with the arrival of the TCG Alemdar in the region, Üstel added that search operations at sea were also continuing uninterrupted on a 24/7 basis.
