President Mustafa Akıncı will travel to New York today in order to meet with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon on June 4. The negotiator Özdil Nami will also accompany Akıncı during his visit to New York. Akıncı and his delegation will return to the island on the 7th of June. UN Secretary-General expressed his wish for a meeting with the president Akıncı after he was elected as the new president of the TRNC.
