Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu answered questions about the agenda on NTV live broadcast.

Making evaluations on the oil and natural gas exploration activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, Çavuşoğlu stated that there are natural gas and oil reserves around the island and both the Turkish Cypriot and the Greek Cypriot people have the right to these resources.

Çavuşoğlu also stressed that Turkey wishes to guarantee the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people and Turkey’s demands are legitimate and no one should suffer.

Concerning discussions about the establishment of a Turkish naval base in Cyprus, Çavuşoğlu said “Turkey’s attitude is that it will always protect the rights of the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriots. In this respect, in terms of security and guarantees, we also remind them that as soon as possible they should wake up and give up the dream of zero guarantee, zero security, and zero troops.
