19 July, 2017Turkish Minister of European Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik said that Greek Cypriot Administration put in pledge to EU’s future as well by their uncompromising attitude in Crans Montana and stated that “EU countries must see beyond the Greek Cypriot narrative.”
Çelik stressed that Turkey was on the side of solution, saying, “Although the Turkish side has shown a positive approach [during the talks in Switzerland], this last solution chance has been missed.”
“A proposal that calls for Turkish troops not to be on the island at the start of negotiations is out of the question,” he added.
