Stating that leaders should return to the negotiation table for the solution of the Cyprus problem, Secretary General of the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG) Kutlay Erk said: “Leaders have no luxury of leaving the negotiation table; they should return to the negotiation table as soon as possible and spend efforts towards the solution of the Cyprus problem”.

Adding that it is too late for reaching a solution in Cyprus, Erk said that if the Greek Cypriot side continues to make researches in the Exclusive Economic Zone, new crisis will occur.

Stressing that conditions put forth by the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades in order to return to the negotiation table are impracticable, Erk said that in case these conditions are fulfilled, Cyprus Republic will be officially recognized by the Turkish Republic and this is impossible.

Underlining that there is a tension in the Mediterranean due to the hydrocarbon reserves, CTP-BG Secretary General Kutlay Erk expressed his belief that the world will not let further tension to be experienced in the region anymore.

Furthermore, pointing out that there is a great tension in the Middle East anyway, Erk said that they as the Turkish Cypriots want this tension to end and reach a solution in Cyprus.

Expressing that water will be transferred to Cyprus from Turkey and it is called ‘Water of Peace’, Erk said that in case of reaching a solution in Cyprus, all resources will be shared.
