Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Tourism, Culture and Sports Serdar Denktaş stated that some issues were disregarded for years in order to reach a solution in Cyprus and sometimes they hide behind embargoes. Denktaş said “If a solution is to be reached in Cyprus, only Turkish Cypriot side’s will is not enough, Greek Cypriot side should also be willing for a solution. We as the Turkish Cypriot side should be very strong in the field of economy and reach the stage to compete with all countries of the world.

Furthermore, Denktaş added that the most important way to do this is to realize an economic integration with motherland Turkey.

Within the framework of his Ankara contacts, Denktaş and his accompanying delegation met with Turkey’s Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi yesterday.
