The UN Secretary General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, said that a settlement in Cyprus is still possible but a lot of work needs to be done.

Eide yesterday had a meeting with President Mustafa Akıncı at the Presidency which lasted about two hours.

Eide stated that the leaders will decide next steps, and discuss outstanding issues as well as the security and guarantee issue.

All issues will be discussed in tandem, Eide said, and added that the leaders will discuss a date for reconvening of the Cyprus Conference at a broader political level. Eide also noted that leaders will continue their one on one meetings in parallel to this.

Noting the importance of reconvening the conference at the right time with the right content, Eide stressed that the forthcoming days and months must be approached with maximum productivity and constructive attitudes.
