Erdoğan meets Guterres: “No proposal that does not recognize the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people would yield results”

During his meeting with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that with regard to the Cyprus issue, no proposal that does not recognize the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people would yield results.

The Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye issued a statement regarding the meeting between President Erdoğan, who is in New York to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

According to the statement, the meeting addressed regional and global issues. During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye had worked closely with Secretary General Guterres on a wide range of issues concerning global peace and security whose term in office draws to a close.
