3 December, 2018Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that as long as the Greek Cypriot side continue their aggressive policies which ignore the fundamental rights of the Turkish Cypriots, they will continue to take the necessary measures.
Erdoğan held a press conference at the Fairground, where the annual G20 Leaders’ Summit was held.
Stressing that the issue of energy is an important issue for Turkey, Erdoğan referred to the issue of hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean and said:
“We shall never let the rights of the TRNC, which is one of the principal owners of the hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, to be usurped by ‘fait accompli’. Turkey is committed to both protecting its own laws and the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people. As long as the Greek Cypriot side continue their aggressive policies that ignore the fundamental rights of the Turkish Cypriots, we will continue to take the necessary measures”.
