16 November, 2017On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu celebrated the TRNC’s National Day, which marked the 34th Anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern by the Turkish Cypriot People on 15th November 1983.
In his message marking the occasion, Ertuğruloğlu said that the Turkish Cypriot People had paid a high price for their struggle in the past – suffering persecution, migration and loss of life in order to build the Turkish Cypriot state. The Foreign Minister urged the audience to acknowledge the value of their flag and their state and added that the Turkish Cypriot People have claimed the TRNC as their state for 34 years, developing and carrying it into the future with the support of motherland Turkey.
Ertuğruloglu also stated that motherland Turkey has always supported the TRNC throughout the years and announced that both countries are working towards the development and democratic functioning of a modern TRNC in every field. He also stressed that the TRNC will continue to stand by motherland Turkey in the future and thanked Turkey for its support in every capacity.
