6 May, 2024TRNC Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu spoke to the Turkish Cypriot daily, KIBRIS Newspaper, regarding the attempt of the USA to lift the arms embargo imposed on the Greek Cypriot administration.
The Minister stated that the US Administration, which seems to intend to change the delicate balance in favour of the Greek Cypriot side and Greece, should act with common sense.
Foreign Minister Ertuğruloğlu evaluated the draft law submitted to the US Congress as an attempt to increase the tension on the island and in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Ertuğruloğlu stated that the arms embargo imposed on the Greek Cypriot Administration by the USA has been gradually lifted since 1987.
The Minister said that the draft law means that the Greek Cypriot side will further increase its armament activities, which have recently reached alarming dimensions.
