22 June, 2016According to Greek Cypriot sources, the Greek Cypriot Administration accepted Turkish fire-fighting help under certain conditions. Greek Cypriot media reported that President Mustafa Akıncı contacted Nikos Anastasiades, Leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration following statements from the Turkish Minister for Forestry and Water Works Veysel Eroğlu. President Akıncı conveyed Turkey’s offer of help to put out the fires in the Soleya area, using fire-fighting aircrafts.
The same sources reported that Anastasiades thanked Akıncı and said he would accept Turkey’s assistance under certain conditions, namely those of the framework of international help based on the “government’s operational planning” currently being developed as a partnership between Israel, Greece, Great Britain, France, Italy and with the participation of the EU.
