31 August, 2016Greek Cypriot Ombudswoman Eliza Savvidu has highlighted an unjust decision regarding the graduation ball taken at an English School in South Cyprus.
The Greek Cypriot newspaper Haravgi wrote that Savvidu was asked to investigate the graduation ceremony organized by the School Family Association at the school. The ceremony was financed by all of the students.
The graduation ball was scheduled for 24 June, the date 16 Turkish Cypriot students were due to take their Turkish A Level Exam. These students thus had difficulties in attending the ball.
According to the article, Savvidu pointed out in her report that the School Family Association should have changed the date of the ball or tried to find an alternative solution.
Savvidu also stressed that the School Family Association did not promote bi-communality.
