“If progress is achieved by giving up political equality, sovereignty and Turkey’s guarantee, this means regression”

The Leader of the Democrat Party National Forces Serdar Denktaş stated that if progress is achieved by giving up political equality, sovereignty and Turkey’s guarantee, this means regression.

Serdar Denktaş criticized the statement of President Akıncı that “Progress has been achieved in the last 5 months of the 47 year long negotiation process.”

On the other hand, Denktaş stated: “in order to compromise of course both sides have to give something and have to get something .in return.   The question that arises here is that while we are giving something, what we are getting in return?”

Denktaş also stated that if the Turkish Cypriot people will walk arm in arm with the Greek Cypriot people in the new future, the stages of the negotiations should be explained to the people step by step.
