50 deputies elected to the TRNC Assembly in the early general elections held on 23rd January 2022 in the TRNC will swear today.

In accordance with the Internal Regulations of the TRNC Assembly, the first meeting will be chaired by the oldest member of the Assembly Ünal Üstel, the National Unity Party deputy.

Ünal Üstel will serve as the ‘Temporary Speaker’ until the Speaker of Assembly is elected.

The two youngest deputies, National Unity Party (UBP) deputy Emrah Yeşilırmak and Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Deputy Ongun Talat will serve as temporary council clerks until the council clerks are elected.

The National Unity Party won 24 seats, the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) won 18 seats, the Democrat Party (DP) won 3 seats, the Peoples Party (HP) won 3 seats and the Rebirth Party (YDP) won 2 seats in the 50 seat TRNC Assembly.
