The UN in Cyprus has announced the date of the 2nd Geneva Conference on Cyprus.
According to the statement given by the UN Spokesperson, the five party conference will be held on 28 June, under the auspices of the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres with the participation of President Mustafa Akıncı, Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades, guarantor countries Turkey, Greece and the UK and in the presence of the European Union, as an observer.
The UN’s Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres planned to attend the opening of the Cyprus negotiations, which will restart on the 28th of June in Geneva.
In his statement to the reporters, Dujarric expressed that the Security issue will be discussed at the conference as well as other outstanding issues, however it will become clear at the negotiations whether a compromise will be achieved or not.
